NOTES and TERMS |
The price for carding to Roving or Batting is based on incoming weight.
|
If you have already washed your fiber, we may rewash it. If you have put any sort of conditioner into it we will rewash it. |
If we encounter any problems or issues we will attempt to contact you before we act. Be aware that an average of 30 percent and up to 50 percent of the starting weight can be lost in the various stages of processing. A significant portion of the loss is in scouring, however, some fiber is lost at every stage.
|
The price for Spinning is based on the finished weight, plus the charge for roving, thus: Incoming weight of Roving + Finished weight of Yarn = Total charge for Yarn. Spinning includes pindrafting to size, spinning singles, plying singles, and skeining or cone winding. Skeined yarn will be steamed unless otherwise specified. If a skein length is not specified, the yarn will be skeined at 250 yards, unless it is a fingering or lace in which case it will be skeined at 400 yards.
|
"Exotic" fibers include Mohair, Alpaca, Llama, anything more exoticthan that and some wools. These fibers require that we run the machines much slower, and in some cases it is necessary to add a percentage of wool in order to process them. Mohair processing requires the addition of 15-30% Merino Combed Top. Some fine wools, such as Merino sometimes require extra attention in processing, often needing extra scouring. Suri Alpaca that has at least 50% huacaya alpaca or 15% Merino Combed Top added will be charged at the Exotic price and may be able to be spun into something other than lace.
|
Fiber with excessive amounts of VM (vegetable matter) or other contaminants may be refused and may be returned at the owners expense. The skirting charge is not all inclusive.
|
We require an estimated 50% deposit to begin processing your fiber. The remainder is due upon completion, before we return your fiber. Orders left over 30 days will be billed a 3 percent per month surcharge. Orders left over 90 days will become property of the mill unless alternate arrangements have been made. |
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. Orders which are cancelled by either party will be returned at owners expense. By placing an order with us you are agreeing to our terms. |
Turnaround Time: |
| Our average turnaround for spinning is currently 4-6 months, and 3-4 months for roving. This is approximate, and not a guarantee. We realize that turnaround time is an issue for some customers and we do our best to keep all orders moving through expediently. There are a number of factors that can affect this such as condition, quality and quantity of fiber, payment of deposits, full completion of order forms, machine maintenance, time to obtain blending fiber, services selected and color. For example: if we have a very long run of white in progress and you have a well skirted white fleece your order may be pushed ahead of a black fleece. |
Ordering and Shipping instructions: |
Please contact us before shipping your fiber (in case we are away). We recommend a delivery confirmation or a tracking number from the shipper, so you will know when it has arrived at the mill. Please download and fill out an ORDER FORM as completely as possible. If you have multiple fleeces that you want processed individually, please bag each one separately, and fill out and attach an order form to each one. You may place as many separate orders as will fit in your box together. Put the fiber in plastic bags and suck as much air out as possible (you can even use a vacuum cleaner). Generally, the smaller the package, the cheaper the shipping. We can get to work sooner on orders that are complete than on orders for which we have to chase down information. We have had limited success with fed exground, and do not recommendusing it to ship to us. |
To pay your 50% deposit you may either send a check or money order along with the fiber or alternately, we can generate your estimate and you can pay your depositvia Intuit IPN, pay palor credit card. |
